I can’t believe our little guy is already two weeks old!  He’s doing very well; he passed his birth weight quickly – he’s already 7 lbs 11 oz (as of last Monday, who knows now?!)  The doctor said he’s 5oth percentile for weight and 95th for height, not really sure how that happened!  We celebrated his two week birthday yesterday along with my 29th birthday by just staying home and relaxing with his daddy then dinner with friends.  He’s such a joy, he was holding up his head really well today during his tumy time.  I will get some pictures posted this week, we need to sort them on the computer first.  No, he’s not sleeping through the night yet and we’re both tired, but we’re getting settled in and used to each other.  Keep checking back for pictures, we’re still taking a ton!

Wow, after 24 hours of labor we finally have our son. Ethan Ryan Melton was born on Wednesday, August 15th, at 7:30 PM Mountain Time to two very happy and relieved parents. Bernadette and I are now recovering in a very nice suite at the hospital. Hopefully, we’ll get to come home either tomorrow or Saturday. Till then we’re resting up and spending some time with the little guy. He weighed in at 7 pounds 8 oz. at birth, and is 20 3/4 inches long. Here is a first sneak peak at him (click on the picture for more).

So I had to have Ryan review how to post the pictures (like I was going to remember how after only doing it once!) but I wrote down the directions this time.    I’ve posted a few new pictures of our basement, we finally have the drywall up!  After working on it ourseves for over a year we decided to just hire out the rest to hopefully get it finished (or at least mostly finished) before the baby is born.  A huge thanks to the guys who helped: Todd, Stan, Jason, Josh, my dad, and Ryan’s dad, and all the wives that let them. 

The baby’s nursery is largely done, I’m really happy with how it turned out.  Ryan and I have been giving each other children’s books for the holidays for years so now we have a nice full bookshelf.  I had no idea how many we’d gotten until I filled it!  The cats really like the nursery too, the rocking chair and changing table are favored napping spots.  Fortunately they are staying out of the crib.   

Both of my baby showers were lots of fun!  A big thanks to Melina, Melissa, Sara, and Kaitie for planning them.  I can only hope the baby’s diapers smell like chocolate! 

Only 9 days until our due date, I know I’m ready to meet our little guy, now we just have to wait for him to be ready to meet his family!  Keep praying that he makes his appearance soon and is healthy, we’ll get pictures posted as soon as we can!
